Let’s talk about something that still seems to shock people in 2025:That a woman nearing 40 could be… happy. Without children. Or a man. Or the tidy little life society told her she should want: house, husband, 2.4 kids.

By now, at 39, I thought I’d have the checklist complete. Instead? I have none of the above in the way society told me I would. And weirdly, I’m okay with that. Actually, I’m more than okay. I’m alive, awake, and becoming who I actually came here to be.

I ended 2021 in pieces. Severe insomnia. Anxiety. Covid. And a full-blown nervous system collapse that felt like the end of the world. But it was really the beginning.

For years, I wasn’t sure if I had anything worth saying. I’d sit with a blank page, wanting to write but caught in perfectionism.
